Soffit Repair
Closing the gaps where squirrels, wasps and water have been getting into the eave.
What soffit repair involves
Closing the gaps where squirrels, wasps and water have been getting into the eave. The part homeowners rarely see is everything underneath: the intake vents, the baffles at the eave, and whether the attic can actually pull air at all. That is where a roof either breathes or cooks the shingles from underneath.
Jonathan looks in the attic as well as at the eave before quoting anything, photographs what he finds, and shows you the pictures. You get told what it needs and what it does not, in plain language, and the number you get is the number you pay.
Read that back and it sounds like the bare minimum. It is. It is also the thing most people say they did not get from the last contractor they hired, which is why we keep saying it out loud.

How the job actually goes
You call, we look
Jonathan answers the phone. He comes out, looks at the eave and up into the attic, and photographs what the ventilation is actually doing.
You get a real number
A written price with the scope spelled out. Nothing appears on the invoice later that was not on the quote.
We schedule around the weather
Mid-South weather moves. If it moves us, you hear about it from us before you wonder.
The work gets done right
Materials the manufacturer actually specifies, installed the way the warranty requires.
We clean up and walk it with you
Magnet over the yard, debris in the trailer, and a walkthrough so you can see what you paid for.
What actually goes wrong
These are the failures we actually find on soffit repair jobs around the metro, in the order they turn up.

Painted-shut vents move no air
Vented soffit only works if the perforations are open. Decades of repainting closes them, and from the ground the soffit looks cared for. An attic with painted-over intake is running on whatever leaks past the eave, which is why we look up under there before quoting.
Insulation pushed over the intake
Blown insulation shoved to the edge of the attic floor buries the intake from inside. The vents are open, the air still cannot get in. Baffles at the eave hold that channel open, and adding them is usually cheaper than anything else on the roof.
New panel over soft wood
Soffit is nailed to the sub-fascia and the rafter tails. Covering rotten wood with fresh vinyl or aluminum hides the problem and gives the fasteners nothing to hold. What is behind the panel gets sounded first, and the bad sections come out.
Ask for the license and insurance paperwork and actually look at it. A certificate of insurance takes one phone call to verify, and it protects you, not them.
Ask what the warranty covers and who honors it. A manufacturer warranty on materials means nothing if the workmanship that voided it was theirs.
Ask how they handle cleanup. Debris left in a flower bed is a small thing until it is yours, and it tells you how the rest of the job was run.
Ask for photographs of your own property from anyone who quotes this work, including us. It is the difference between a factual conversation and a sales pitch.
None of this needs to be decided on the phone. The useful next step is having somebody walk it, photograph what is actually there, and put the findings in writing so you can think about it.
If you have had a quote already and something about it did not sit right, a second look is worth the time. Comparing two written assessments with photographs attached usually makes the answer obvious.
The assessment is free and it carries no obligation. Plenty of what we look at turns out to need less than the homeowner feared, and being told that is a perfectly good outcome.

Questions we get asked
How fast can you get out to look at it?
Usually within a day or two, and sooner when water is actively coming in. Jonathan does the look himself, so you are not waiting on a salesman to pass a message along to a crew.
Do you handle soffit repair on commercial buildings too?
Yes, on small commercial. Churches, restaurants, warehouses, duplexes and small apartment buildings are regular work for us. We schedule around your hours so the business keeps running.
Will you tell me if I do not actually need this?
Yes, and we do it often. Several of our best reviews came from telling somebody their roof had years left. If a repair is the honest answer instead of a replacement, that is what Jonathan will tell you.
Are you licensed and insured?
Licensed, bonded and insured, with an A+ rating from the BBB. We can send proof before we start, and you should ask that of anybody who climbs on your roof.
What does cleanup look like when you are finished?
We pick up after ourselves. Debris goes in the trailer, the yard gets run with a magnet for nails, and the landscaping gets protected while we work.
Do you offer financing?
We do, for roofing and exterior projects. It is worth asking about if the timing of the work and the timing of the money do not quite line up.
While we are out there
Most properties need more than one thing handled, and it is cheaper to do it in one trip than three.
